නූගත් ඝාතකයාගේ කවිය - ජගත් ජේ එදිරිසිංහ
නූගත් ඝාතකයාගේ කවිය
නීතිඥයන් දෙදෙනෙකු මැරුවෙමි ඊයේ
දොස්තර කෙනෙකු අළු කෙරුවෙමි දර සෑයේ
සගය බලව අර මුල්ලේ ගැහෙන්නේ
ඉංජිනේරුවෙකි අත් පා කපා දැමූ
කඩුවෙන් කළ යුත්ත පෑනෙන් වලකන්න
වැර දැරු උන්ට කර ඇති දේ බලපන්න
මුර දේවතාවන් කුමටද මේ දැයට
බණ පොත් ගිණි තබමි උණුසුම ලැබ ගන්න
උපාධිය සමග කඩුවක් නොදෙන නිසා
බොහෝ පහසු විය කරනට මගෙ සේවේ
මගේ අසිපතට නැත කිසි අභියෝගේ
උගත් කම මොටද කඩුවක් නොමැතිකොට
නිමා කොට රැුයක් බොහො වෙහෙසයි සගය
විවේකයට සැතපෙමි කහවනු මත්තේ
හෙටත් නැවත ඕනෑවෙන නිසාවට
මුවත් තබමි අසිපත ඇහැරුණ පසුව

This poem depicts the conflict which has overwhelmed the mind of those in SL's extant society: love for violence and justification of same. Many have endorsed violence in its most brutal form as a method to attain their unfulfilled desires. Hence, it is only the violent who get the support and acceptance. No one is worried about those who have been victimised by such violence perpetrated in the name of making a good society. Perppertrtors are hailed as heroes by even those who stand for human rights, dignity and salvation. The poet has been successful in penetrating the mind of those who pester internally and will one day become a decayed both physically and spiritually. Congratulations! Write many more such bold pieces of poetry.
